LAMPUNG – The month of Muharram is one of the four haram months or months glorified by Allah swt. Every good will produce a greater reward this month than any other month. In Indonesia, the month of Muharram is also synonymous with the name of Eid for Orphans. The religion of Islam itself places orphans in a very special position.
For this reason, at this Muharram moment, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung invited 20 orphans from 5 Bandar Lampung orphanages to participate in Muharram Fest 1445 Hijri activities. This agenda occurs on Sunday (31/7/2023) at the Itera Botanical Garden (Sumatra Institute of Technology) and Fajar Agung Bookstore.
This activity began with remarks by the Head of Dompet Dhuafa Lampung Branch, Yogi Achmad Fajar. Yogi said that this activity aims to increase knowledge insight, especially related to plants, provide entertainment and happiness for children, as well as provide motivation to achieve goals and also as a momentum for the commemoration of 10 Muharram 1445 H.
“Alhamdulillah, thanks to friends, #Orangbaik and kindness partners, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung can spread smiles and joy for orphans. This agenda was held because of support from various parties. From Itera, from FORDA LKSA as the one who accommodates the orphans, from the Fajar Agung Bookstore (Toko Buku Fajar Agung), Dompet Dhuafa Volunteer, Askha Jaya Chips, MT Network, Jasa Raharja, and Sambal Ladas. We are grateful for all the support,” Yogi said.
Furthermore, Alawiyah as Head of UPT Konservasi Flora Sumatra Itera in her speech said that her party appreciated these agendas, and supported the children of the orphanage to continue to be enthusiastic about learning to achieve their goals.
Various interesting activities are also presented to provide experience and knowledge for orphans. Starting with an Excursion (Educational Tour with Orphans) to Itera Botanical Garden. Alawiyah and the team guided the activity at the Itera Botanical Garden.

In this location, children learn and practice hydroponic planting. In his material, Alawiyah entrusted a message always to protect and preserve the environment.
“The presence of this botanical garden is one of the conservation efforts of protected plants, especially native Sumatran plants. Therefore, our younger siblings must protect the environment so that plants remain sustainable,” he concluded.
The scorching sun did not dampen their enthusiasm for learning. The children watched the Alawite explanations enthusiastically and carefully. Because, their new experience and knowledge are felt directly. Moreover, when the Alawites said that children could harvest kale plants.
“Children can harvest kale, yes, brother will teach you later. The kale can be taken home to eat with friends in the panti,” said Alawiyah.
Suddenly, the children immediately paid attention and tried to harvest directly. Each child has been holding a kale in his hand, the prepared plastic container has been fully filled. As a result, the kale plants were harvested by them.
After that, the orphans were invited to tour the botanical garden to see a collection of rare plants, play in the maze, group mini games, and give orphan gifts through prayer and recitation equipment. Then the next agenda, still at the Itera Botanical Garden, orphans were invited to go to the second location, namely the Fajar Agung Bookstore.
Yeni as the Head of Administration of Fajar Agung welcomed the arrival of the children happily. In fact, each child was given an attractive gift.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you, we are happy to have been invited to collaborate in this good agenda,” he said.
At Fajar Agung Bookstore, children are welcome to choose the school supplies they want freely. The orphans went around looking for school needs accompanied by accompanying older siblings.
“Sister, I want that food box!” said Afda (10), one of the participants to her companion brother from Dompet Dhuafa Lampung.
