NOUMEA, NEW CALEDONIA — Towards the end of the month of forgiveness, coinciding with the 27th night of Ramadan 1445 AH, the community of Indonesian citizens and the Indonesian diaspora in New Caledonia held a special mujahadah. The event, which was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Noumea Office, was held to reach Lailatulqadar. Dompet Dhuafa’s Dai Ambassador in charge of New Caledonia, Ustaz Eko Zain was appointed to be the leader of the event which was also attended by the Indonesian Consulate General in Noumea.

The mujahadah agenda began with a breakfasting event. This was followed by the Maghrib and Isha prayers in congregation. In a solemn atmosphere, the congregation of approximately 70 people then performed Tarawih and Tasbih prayers as an expression of sincerity in asking for goodness and blessings on a night that is believed to be better than a thousand months.

In between the Tarawih prayers and before performing the Tasbih prayer, Ustaz Eko Zain gave a lecture on the importance of utilising the night of Lailatulqadar to pray and multiply good deeds. In addition, the preacher, who also served in Taiwan in 2019, explained the intricacies of the Tasbih prayer. Thus, the congregation based their acts of worship on knowledge and understanding, not just enthusiasm.

Apart from being a golden opportunity to worship, the event also served as a momentum for the Indonesian community in New Caledonia to strengthen ties and strengthen togetherness in carrying out worship in a country far from the Motherland. The congregation also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fill this special night with knowledge and worship in the midst of an environment where the majority of the population is not Muslim. For the congregation, this agenda really enriches religious values and strengthens their love for Indonesia.

The hope is that the deeds of worship that they have offered will be accepted by Allah Swt and bring blessings to themselves and Muslims around the world.
