BANYUMAS, CENTRAL JAVA – In an effort to promote optimal dental and oral health, and in commemoration of the National Oral and Dental Health Day in 2023, the Free Health Service (LKC) of Dompet Dhuafa Central Java partnered with the Executive Student Body (BEM) of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed). They organized a dental and oral health education event at Pendopo Curug Gomblang in Kalisalak Village, Kedungbanteng District, Banyumas Regency on Sunday, 10th September 2023.
The event commenced at 08:30 WIB and concluded successfully. Approximately 40 children enthusiastically took part in dental and oral examinations, tooth brushing practices, and the distribution of hygiene kits. The examination was conducted by the LKC Dompet Dhuafa team with assistance from four dental interns from Unsoed. The results revealed that a majority of the children had cavities or caries, highlighting that awareness regarding dental care among children remains notably low.

“One should brush their teeth at least twice a day, in the morning after breakfast and at night before going to bed, ensuring that the teeth remain clean and healthy. Additionally, it’s crucial to brush correctly to ensure no food particles or germs are left between the teeth. Leftover food particles can lead to cavities or decay,” explained one of the presenters.
