Prayer for Facilitating All Affairs, Sustenance, and Health

Praying for the facilitation of all affairs is something we should do every day to the Almighty. Every day, human beings face various issues, with problems constantly arising, causing stress in life. Hence, we often feel the need to seek solutions and obtain ease in every matter. In facing all this, prayer becomes one form of direct communication between us, the creation, and the Creator, Allah SWT.

Why Praying to Allah

Prayer is a form of spiritual communication between the servant and the Creator. In the Quran, Allah SWT commands humans to pray to Him: “Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation). Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.” (Quran, Ghafir: 60).

The verse above highlights that Allah promises to answer every sincere and humble prayer. However, it’s essential to remember that the response to prayer doesn’t always come in the form we expect because Allah knows best what is suitable for His servants.

Praying is not just about asking; it is also about recognizing our limitations as human beings and relying on His help. This is what Allah SWT emphasizes to us in the mentioned verse from Surah Ghafir, to avoid arrogance and prevent being thrown into the hellfire.

Characteristics of Those Whose Affairs Are Facilitated by Allah

Allah SWT has His own ways of providing assistance and ease to His servants. People whose affairs are facilitated by Allah SWT possess certain characteristics. Here are some of them:

  1. Tawakkul (Complete Reliance on Allah)

Those who have complete trust in Allah find peace in knowing that whatever happens is His will. They don’t fret too much about the outcome because they believe that Allah is continually watching over His surrendered servants.

  1. Gratitude in All Circumstances

Those who are always grateful, in good times and bad, receive more blessings. Allah says, “If you are grateful, I will surely increase your favor; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.” (Quran, Ibrahim: 7).

  1. Patience in Facing Trials

Patience is the key to handling trials. Allah promises, “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Quran, al-Baqarah: 153).

These characteristics can be practiced to ensure that our daily prayers are answered by Allah SWT.

Worship That Can Help Facilitate Matters

Apart from prayer, there are other acts of worship that can facilitate our affairs in this world and the Hereafter, such as:

  1. Salat al-Istikhara (Prayer for Seeking Guidance)

This prayer, taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), is used to seek guidance from Allah when making significant decisions. It is a way to express full reliance on Allah and trust that He will provide what is best.

  1. Fasting (Sawm)

Fasting is not just about abstaining from worldly desires; it strengthens one’s determination and persistence in achieving goals. Fasting can prepare one mentally and physically for dealing with life’s challenges.

  1. Remembrance and Supplication (Dhikr and Tasbih)

Remembering Allah through supplication and remembrance not only draws us closer to Him but also calms the mind and heart. With a calm mind, we can plan and handle affairs more effectively.

  1. Recitation of the Quran

Reading and contemplating the verses of the Quran provides tranquility and guidance in dealing with all matters. Allah says, “And when you recite the Quran, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition.” (Quran, an-Nahl: 98).

  1. Tahajjud Prayer

Tahajjud prayer is a recommended nightly worship where we can pray with deep devotion, seeking ease, forgiveness, and blessings from Allah SWT. “Every night, your Lord descends (to the worldly heavens) when the last third of the night remains. He says, ‘Who is calling upon Me, that I may answer him? Who is asking from Me, that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?'” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

  1. Charity (Sadaqah)

One of the invaluable ways to facilitate all of our affairs is through charity. Allah SWT says, “Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned.” (Quran, Al-Hadid: 11). Charity doesn’t just mean giving in material form but can also involve giving one’s time, knowledge, and other acts of goodness.

The prayer for the facilitation of all affairs taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

It is narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught a prayer to seek facilitation of all our matters by Allah SWT, which is:

“اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً”

Allahumma laa sahla illa maa ja’altahu sahlaa, wa anta taj’alul hazna idza syi’ta sahlaa.”

Translation: “O Allah, there is no ease except in what You have made easy, and You make the difficulty, if You wish, easy.”

The prayer for the facilitation of all affairs from Prophet Moses (Musa)

The prayer for the facilitation of all affairs from Prophet Moses (Musa) mentioned in the Quran, in Surah Taha, verses 25-28, is as follows:

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Rabbish-rohli shodrii, wa yassir-lii amri, wahlul ‘uqdatammin-lisaani, yafqahu qauli.

Translation: “My Lord, expand for me my chest [with assurance], and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech.”

O Allah, protect me from the front, back, right, left, and from above, and I seek refuge in Your greatness, so that I am not destroyed from beneath. O Allah, grant me good health in my body, O Allah, grant me good health in my hearing, O Allah, grant me good health in my sight. There is no god but You.”

Charity Facilitates Matters

One of the keys to facilitating all matters is through charity. Allah, the Almighty, states in the Quran, “The example of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah is like that of a grain of corn that sprouts seven ears, and in every ear there are a hundred grains. Thus Allah multiplies the action of whomsoever He wills.” (Quran. Al-Baqarah, 2:261)

Charity not only benefits the recipients but also opens the doors to blessings and ease for those who give. Start giving to Dompet Dhuafa by clicking on the following link.”
