Qurbani 3 Pasti, Targeting the Right Target and Supporting Equality

JAKARTA — Eid al-Adha is a moment to spread the blessings of qurbani meat to remote areas, a breakthrough that has been presented by Dompet Dhuafa since 1994. Yes, exactly 30 years ago, Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) has always been committed to distributing qurbani meat to remote areas of the country.

This year, Dompet Dhuafa carries the 3 Definite Sacrifices, Definitely Male, Definitely Pass Quality Control (QC) and Definitely Distribution to Remote Areas of the Country, this was conveyed in a Press Conference entitled “Targeting the Right Target – 3 Definite Dompet Dhuafa Sacrifices, on Thursday (5/30/2024) at Menara Kadin, Kuningan, South Jakarta.

In his remarks, Herdiansah as Vice Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation Board said that equalising the distribution of qurbani meat to remote areas of the country is the main thing, especially to achieve 3 benefits.

“I want to say that qurbani in Dompet Dhuafa is very good and full of blessings, because actually the most important point is equity, we Dompet Dhuafa want equal opportunities to consume meat well, throughout the country, we are today encouraging about qurbani 3 Pasti, definitely Jantan, that we Insha Allah cut the males, the second we make sure it must be healthy, our quality control is functioning, and the third is distributed to remote areas of the country so it should not be in certain areas only,” said Herdiansah.

THK Dompet Dhuafa plays an important role in spreading the blessings of Eid-ul-Adha to all corners of Indonesia. According to Herdiansah, qurbani through THK provides three main benefits: first, benefits for qurbani performers; second, direct benefits in the form of qurbani meat for people who have never tasted meat; and third, hope for local farmers. Through this programme, farmers are able to harvest their livestock, thus improving their economy and driving their livelihood.

The Institute for Demographic and Poverty Studies (IDEAS) projects that Indonesia’s qurbani economy in 2024 will reach IDR 24.5 trillion from 2.08 million qurbani performers (shahibul qurban). This was conveyed by Haryo Mojopahit as Managing Director of IDEAS. Then the value of qurbani is estimated at 24.5 trillion, with the potential for qurbani meat to be distributed to the people of Indonesia amounting to 103 thousand tonnes.

However, there is a disparity in meat consumption in Indonesia. In the capital region alone, the average red meat consumption per person reaches 2.8 KG per year, while in the Java region it is only 0.025 grams. Some areas such as Nias have very low meat consumption, only 0.08 grams per capita per year, and areas in the 3T islands also show similar patterns. There are even priority areas with very low meat consumption and high levels of extreme poverty. For example, in Majene Regency, the annual meat consumption is 0.00 grams, indicating that the population there has never eaten meat.

In response to this, Dompet Dhuafa, this year THK carries the tagline qurbani 3 for sure, this is one of the affirmations of Dompet Dhuafa’s attitude to provide better services to the community, through Kurban 3 for Sure.

“The 3 definite sacrifices are definitely male animals, the second is definitely the quality of the animals, and passes quality control and the third is definitely distributed to remote areas of the country, why do we carry these 3 definites, because this is to answer the doubts of the people in the midst of the community who were handed over to Dompet Dhuafa, while the sacrifice was not slaughtered by Dompet Dhuafa directly, by the sacrificers, so we provide this 3 definite guarantee,” said Bobby P Manullang as Chairman of THK 2024.

This year, the meat distribution target will cover 29 THK animal slaughter points, with distribution in each region reaching 4-5 points. With a target of 30,000 sacrificial animals, Dompet Dhuafa hopes to reach nearly two million beneficiaries of the sacrificial meat that will be slaughtered in 2024.

This press conference is one of our efforts to build public awareness through media networks, journalists, key opinion leaders and bloggers who are present today. JDompet Dhuafa hopes that through this press conference a communication corridor will be established to the public through the media network, so that the amplification of this THK programme can be conveyed to the public more massively, and public participation in sacrifice is much more and wider.

Aiman Ricky, one of Dompet Dhuafa’s Super Volunteers who has participated in the QC process at DD Farm Solok, West Sumatra, said that the QC process carried out by Dompet Dhuafa is very complete with the concept of ASUH.

“There is so clear QC from the start of measuring weight, because in Dompet Dhuafa this must be 250KG, secondly, is checking the health from starting to check the heartbeat using a stethoscope, the motion of the rumen, then checking the temperature and giving vitamins, vaccines so complete stages that make me even more convinced that to perform qurbani, the place is here (Dompet Dhuafa) because the QC is so clear with the concept of ASUH (Safe, Healthy, Whole and Halal), and the plus point is that it also reaches remote areas of the country, which I am really amazed by the management that reaches remote areas of the country, especially in West Sumatra, the results will be distributed to remote areas, in disaster areas, namely Agam Regency and Tanah Datar,” said Aiman Ricky.

“Alhamdulillah, the benefits that we can receive are from breeders, we happen to foster many breeders, there are hundreds of us fostering, and they can Alhamdulillah get to improve their welfare, who used to have no house, whose houses were inadequate, only made of bamboo, now they have built walls and so on, then myself, from the institutional side, Alhamdulillah, I was able to initiate the establishment of Islamic boarding schools in 2012, Baron Islamic Boarding School which has spread in 9 city districts and one in Cairo, Egypt. And finally we can make a business, in 2007 we established the name Aqiqah Berkah, so multi-level benefits,” said Azis.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Syauqi as Head of the Sub Directorate of Accreditation and Audit of Zakat Institutions of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, saw the strategic potential related to Dompet Dhuafa’s efforts related to several challenges, the two biggest of which were the first related to equity and the second was justice which was also the principle of the Law on the management of zakat infak sedekah, then some of the biggest issues following data on around 25 million people in the poor category.

“Of course, in this case Dompet Dhuafa has a very strategic role in helping the government to ensure the distribution of qurbani management so that then there are 3 Definitely what is pledged today is certainly a breakthrough on the two biggest issues, namely issues related to equity and justice and also related to the issue of meeting poverty which today is also a challenge,” added Syauqi.
