CENTRAL JAVA — Collaboration of kindness continues to flow, Dompet Dhuafa also manages the mandate of FIANZ (Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand) in the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) 2024 program. The mandate of the qurbani donors from an umbrella organization representing the Muslim community in New Zealand has been distributed by Dompet Dhuafa to the interior of Central Java, Indonesia, on Eid al-Adha Day 1445 AH.
“Alhamdulillah, 11 doka (sheep/goats) were sacrificed by FIANZ, which carries the distribution of sacrificial animals to Indonesia from the Muslim community in New Zealand through Dompet Dhuafa. FIANZ was established in 1979 and plays an important role in providing various services and support for Muslims in the country; such as halal authorization, representation of the Muslim community, and others,” said Diana, Dompet Dhuafa’s Partnership Fundrising team, directly overseeing the process of implementing FIANZ’s mandated sacrifice in Grobogan, Central Java, Monday (06/17/2024).

That morning, the residents of Padas Village, Kedungjati, Grobogan had gathered at Mushola Al Mubarok after Eid al-Adha prayer, 10 Dhulhijah 1445 Hijriah. Even since dawn, the women had been busy preparing dishes for the Bancakan tradition – praying and eating together – which is carried out by Padas residents as a gratitude to Allah SWT for the blessings of the qurbani animals received and will be sacrificed on this Eid al-Adha.
The people of Padas Village were seen enthusiastically working together during THK (Tebar Hewan Kurban) 2024. Some shaved doka (sheep/goats), divided the distribution flow between villages, cut and chopped the meat, and built a public kitchen to cook and enjoy the sacrificial meat together. Various culinary delights were prepared, from mothers making curry to children cheerfully grilling their own goat satay.
“Uenak tenan toh, Mas, dahar rame-rame (It’s really good, Mas, to eat together),” said one of the mothers while cooking under a grove of teak trees.
“We rarely eat meat, unless there is a celebration. This is a sign that the people of Padas Village are happy to have qurbani in our village. Alhamdulillah, thank you very much for the kindness of Dompet Dhuafa and its qurbani donors,” admitted Ustaz Nur Cholis, a religious figure in Padas Village, Cordofa (Corps Dai Dompet Dhuafa).
Going deeper into Padas Village, Dompet Dhuafa navigates challenging access when distributing to the cross-district border area, Dukuh Kedung Udal. Getting there using a two-wheeled motorcycle, crossing two dry river paths of rocks and up and down steep hills.
“This is how it is. We have to be quick because when it rains, we are isolated here. In some cases, such as access to schools and health services, residents find it difficult to reach them. Alhamdulillah, for the past two years I have been asked to teach Quran in Kedung Udal hamlet, and Dompet Dhuafa has also distributed qurbani meat,” said Ustaz Nur Cholis.
Of the 1,800 sacrificial animals distributed in Central Java, Dompet Dhuafa slaughtered 95 sacrificial animals in Padas Village and distributed them to 960 families. The slaughter itself was centered in the PBM (Center for Learning to Recite) Yanbuul Qur’an Yaqu area under the guidance of Ustaz Nur Cholis, as one of the Cordofa (Corps Dai Dompet Dhuafa) da’wah services in the interior of the teak forest.
“Alhamdulillah, this Eid al-Adha 1445 H, Dompet Dhuafa Central Java distributed as many as 1,800 qurbani packages spread across several regions, including: Semarang, Kudus, Pati, Jepara, Grobogan, Sragen, Boyolali, Kendal, Wonogiri, Banyumas, Pekalongan to Cilacap. May qurbani also be a medium for togetherness, prosperity and efforts to expand the benefits of sharing. Thank you for your trust in us, Alhamdulillah, your qurbani is always delivered,” said Zaini, Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Central Java.
“This is the first time Dompet Dhuafa has worked with FIANZ, we hope this can be the beginning of a good collaboration between FIANZ and Dompet Dhuafa,” concluded Zaini. (Dompet Dhuafa)
