SOUTH CENTRAL TIMOR, NTT — There is a Belion Village in the interior of Timor Tengah Selatan. The distance is about 6 hours using land vehicles from Kupang. Not to mention having to pass through the winding path typical of hills. Arid, but the temperature is cold. Don’t expect a signal to appear, electricity has only entered 2021. Although it is difficult to water, sometimes the super friendly residents there are worried that the dead river is flowing fast. Because the road there will be completely isolated.
At that time, ahead of Eid al-Adha 1443 H, Dompet Dhuafa also deployed an animal Quality Control (QC) team for the Stocking of Sacrificial Animals or Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) Dompet Dhuafa also deployed an animal Quality Control (QC) team for the Stocking Sacrificial Animals program to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) at the time, ahead of Eid al-Adha 1443 H. After the QC of sacrificial animals in Kupang Regency, the Dompet Dhuafa Team continued to one of the cage locations in Bileon Village, Faut Molo District, TTS. Yes, Noko Hamlet and Tunion Hamlet are hamlets located in the interior. Going further, the Dompet Dhuafa Team crossed a dry river path filled with rocks at night.
“This is unique and memorable for us. The trip paid for by the residents of Bileon Village was very friendly. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and a little tradition of weaving woven cloth typical of NTT from the village elders for groups of guests who came as a sign of acceptance and kindness. The air is cool, cold, but clean water is difficult. There is no signal (internet network), electricity has only entered 2021 in this hamlet,” said Irsyad, QC Coordinator of THK Dompet Dhuafa in NTT.

With various factors, Dompet Dhuafa decided that Belion Village was one of the right locations for implementing Eid Al-Adha in the distribution of the THK program. Ustaz Hasan, one of Noko Hamlet’s leaders, said that although access is limited in Bileon Village, it should not limit the excitement of carrying out religious holidays there.
“Alhamdulillah, whatever we are grateful for. Despite the dilemma, residents draw little water from the dry river. But, if it rains heavily, we are isolated and may be affected by flooding. Out of about a thousand souls, only 180 are Muslims here. The livelihood of the average citizen is corn, yam, and tamarind farmers. So, our staple food, instead of rice, we eat corn. It is also rare to eat meat, only on big days, especially during Eid al-Adha,” said Ustaz Hasan. (Dompet Dhuafa/Dhika Prabowo)
