BIREUEN, ACEH – After settling in Bireuen for a week, on Monday (16/10/2023), as many as 36 Rohingya ethnic immigrants expressed gratitude for being in a safe place. Currently, they are residing in Gampong Matang Pasi, Peudada Subdistrict, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, which is part of SKB Bireuen. These Rohingya refugees have also been well-received by the local community.
In their temporary residence, the Rohingya refugees are assisted by UNHCR and various other institutions, including Dompet Dhuafa. Additionally, Dompet Dhuafa has provided nutritious food through the Mobile Kitchen Program (Darling). The benefits of this program have been felt by Abdullah (27), a Rohingya ethnic immigrant. He expresses happiness and gratitude for the assistance received.
“Thank you very much to the people of Indonesia who have helped us by providing food, shelter, and pocket money. We are very grateful to the Indonesian government for giving us a sense of security,” he said in Bengali.

“Faisal Rahman (45), as the Protection Associate of UNHCR for refugee management in Bireuen, states that assistance for Rohingya refugees is very significant in difficult conditions like the present.
“Thank you to Dompet Dhuafa for providing food assistance, a warm post with hot drinks and snacks, and for supplying necessities for mothers and children, such as diapers and more,” he added.
Faisal hopes that humanitarian assistance like this can continue consistently, as it is still needed for disaster management for the refugees.

Moreover, Moh. Noor Awaluddin Asjhar, the Head of LPM Dompet Dhuafa, explained that the food aid provided is part of the Darling Program (Mobile Kitchen).
“We coordinate with Dompet Dhuafa Aceh Branch and local institutions to provide assistance and the best services for the refugees. Alhamdulillah, our presence seems to have alleviated their burdens and brought happiness after the fear and anxiety they experienced before,” Awaluddin elaborated. (Dompet Dhuafa/LPM/Ray/Anndini)
