BOGOR, WEST JAVA — In commemoration of International Literacy Day and National Literacy Day which falls on Friday (8/9/2023), Sekolah Literasi Indonesia (SLI) Dompet Dhuafa and Let’s Read Indonesia held the launch of Gemari Baca Audio Book. The project is titled “Audio Books to Increase Indonesian Children’s Interest in Reading”.
SLI Audio Book Manager, Nurul Aeni explained that quality reading books are alternative learning resources that will enrich children’s experience when interacting with books. This audio book is one of SLI’s projects to enrich learning materials for children and expand the literacy movement in Indonesia.
“The audio book project is one of SLI’s projects to enrich children’s learning materials and expand the Indonesian literacy movement,” said Nurul Aeni.
The launch, which took place online, presented Mulyadi Saputra as the Head of the Insani Development Institute (LPI) Dompet Dhuafa, Dr. Iwan Syahril as the Director General of PAUD of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Drs. Muhammad Abdul Khak as the Head of the Development Center of the Language Development and Development Agency, Hana A. Satriyo as Country Representative of The Asia Foundation, Kak Aio as International Storyteller, and Shirli Gumilang as SLI Manager.
“2023 is the second year of the audio book project. We also involve various collaboration partners. Alhamdulillah, the audio book project has produced 184 free audio book works on the Gemari Baca YouTube channel and www.sekolahliterasi.id,” continued Nurul Aeni.
SLI as a program under the auspices of Dompet Dhuafa’s Human Development Institute (LPI) focuses and strives to develop a culture of literacy throughout the ecosystem in building and improving human quality through literacy.

According to Nurul Aeni, in general, the launch of this audio book aims to socialize the work of audio books to the community so that the spirit of reading is burning more. Dompet Dhuafa wants to educate the public about the importance of quality reading sources as well as socialize the Gemari Baca Audio Book collection, so that it can be used in learning.
He also hopes that the presence of Gemari Baca Audio Books will be able to motivate people about the importance of reading books and provide alternative ways of reading books to children. (Dompet Dhuafa/LPI/AR/Muthohar)
