CIANJUR, WEST JAVA — Besides Teh Nunung, there are also other Cianjur Earthquake survivors who also receive Ramadan Parcels from Dompet Dhuafa, she is Bu Atin (47). She lives in the same location as Teh Nunung, namely in Benjot Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur, West Java.
To the Dompet Dhuafa Team, Bu Atin shared her experience facing the Cianjur Earthquake event which made her a stronger person to this day. The reason is, since that incident, Bu Atin has suffered injuries and she could not get out of bed.
“Alhamdulillah, now it’s not bad. Before, if I sat for a long time, I couldn’t make it. At that time (earthquake time), I was crushed at Madrasah. On my right, two people died, and on the back, three people died. Actually, until now I also didn’t know how the position of my legs were at that time, one was stretched but the other one was buckled by the glass door,” said Bu Atin.

Alhamdulillaah, her condition has improved in the past one month, it is just that she still does not dare to lift heavy things. According to Bu Atin, she lives with her husband and her 4 children. After the earthquake, she also received another life test, when her husband had experienced a trauma, so that he could not respond well when speaking.
However, “Alhamdulillah, now it has returned to normal,” said Bu Atin. When the earthquake struck, Bu Atin was attending a routine Islamic lecture every Monday at a mosque commonly called Madrasah.
“I usually went to the lecture regularly on Monday at half past one, because the lecture started usually at quarter to two. I didn’t know, but that day I departed at 1 o’clock. Well, usually I also didn’t sit in the middle, it was dense and lined up. It happened very quickly, there was no shake but there were things falling from above immediately. That Madrasah was newly built. Two weeks after being prayed, now it is flat,” explained Bu Atin to Dompet Dhuafa Team.
“I was immediately taken by my sister to the rice fields (refugee camp) for more than a month, then I came back here. Alhamdulillah, here my children and I got Huntara (temporary housing) built on the land of our own house,” she added.

For Bu Atin, the event she faced at that time was very heavy and almost made her give up. However, she still had to survive for her children. One of the children who kept her strong and determined in dealing with all trials was her youngest child.
“What encouraged me is to see the little one. At first I shouted for stopping, because I felt I was no longer able to walk. But Allah gives the best, not what we ask for. The silver lining after the incident is I become more grateful. Alhamdulilah,” Bu Atin admitted.
On Thursday (17/4/23), Bu Atin was also excited to help other mothers cook in preparation for Buka Bersama (iftar together) Dompet Dhuafa in the refugee camps. In fact, she was very happy when she got the Ramadan Parcel this time.
“I’m very happy to get a Ramadan Parcel, I can only pray that the good hands of anyone and anywhere, Allah will replace them with more. Hopefully all those who give, their sustenance will be abundant,” said Bu Atin gratefully.
Bu Atin also did not expect that the alms from Sahabat Dompet Dhuafa containing prayer equipment, basic necessities and some snacks, completed the preparation and dishes of Eid at her home in the future.
“It turns out that there are still many good and caring hands. I may never have helped anyone before, but oh God, when I am in need, there are a lot of good people. Indeed, Allah is rich,” she concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa/Awalia R)
