SOUTH TANGERANG – The South Tangerang Potential Forum held a Joint Water Rescue and Vertical Rescue Exercise event attended by 150 volunteers from various organizational backgrounds.
This activity aims to strengthen the relationship among the response teams held for three days from Friday (17/2/23) to Sunday (19/2/23) at Saung Cisadane Keranggan, South Tangerang.
To support the running of this activity, Dompet Dhuafa sent a Darling fleet or mobile kitchen and a documentation and field coverage team from the Disaster Management Center (DMC) unit of Dompet Dhuafa.
“With the holding of this joint exercise, it is hoped that later when there is a rescue that requires vertical expertise and water rescue, friends are always ready,” said Narwan, Manager of Response-Recovery DMC Dompet Dhuafa.
Indra Jaya, the chief executive, said that representatives of response members from Jabodetabek and Purwakarta attended this activity.
“This event is the second time, and in the future, it will be held once a year,” said Indra Wijaya, the Chief Executive of the Joint Exercise.
The first day began with a series of registrations and material from ORARI and RAPI friends, explaining the importance of communication when carrying out volunteer duties or at the disaster site.
Communication mediums in the digital era are quite a lot. Yet, often radio channels can be a reasonably practical choice at disaster sites because interference and noise are more complicated than much more modern media.
The second day began with morning exercises and briefing and continued with the provision of vertical rescue and water rescue materials; participants were divided into two groups to be effective. Thus, the deepening of the material is not only in the form of theory but the participant’s practice directly in the field.
On the third day, a total simulation of the results of joint learning was carried out; activities that were quite exhausting and needed more energy, plus the sun’s heat on that day, however, did not dampen the intentions and enthusiasm of the participants.
The simulation starts at 9 a.m. and until noon, and then the activity closes with a get-together and evaluation of joint activities.
As the chief executive, Indra explained that the Joint Exercise was essential to maintain friendships and build an in-common spirit, later becoming a reference in the field.
“The hope from us as friends of tangsel potential is to maintain the friendship, as well as uniformize what we will use standards in the field, then create a new possible community for new friends to humanity,” added Indra.
Within three days and two nights, it is hoped that it will have a good impact on the participants because the function of this Joint Exercise is also a means to learn and practice together.
“The message for every comrade is to learn and practice,” concluded Indra. (Dompet Dhuafa / DMC)
