Makassar, South Sulawesi — The great potential of zakat in Indonesia needs to be accompanied by strengthening education and socialization. This time, Dompet Dhuafa through its South Sulawesi branch held a zakat socialization activity at the Makassar Religious High Court Office. The socialization was a means to strengthen a deeper understanding to court employees about the management of ZISWAF (Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf) funds at Dompet Dhuafa.
The activity was the opening of the first week in September 2024. It began with remarks from the Chairman of the Makassar Religious High Court, Dr. Drs. Khaeril R, M.H, who officially opened the event. In his speech, he conveyed the importance of knowledge about the distribution of zakat funds and empowerment programs managed by Dompet Dhuafa, especially in the South Sulawesi region.
On the same occasion, Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi Branch Manager, Pandu Heru Satrio, explained the profile of the institution and various excellent programs at Dompet Dhuafa. This includes the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program that has been run by Dompet Dhuafa for 30 years. Pandu emphasized how the distribution of qurbani meat is not only concentrated in big cities. But it also reaches remote areas in Indonesia.
Testimonial from Super Volunteer
The more interesting part of the event was the presence of guest star Chiki Fawzi, a super volunteer of Dompet Dhuafa. On this occasion, Chiki attended the event after participating in the Hulutrip at Kahayya Coffee Empowerment. Chiki shared her experience when visiting the location of the coffee empowerment program in Kahayya, South Sulawesi. How Dompet Dhuafa’s programs have had a significant impact on the community in the area, he also told employees at the Makassar High Court of Religion.
“I understand very well how the Dompet Dhuafa program is able to change the status of the beneficiaries from mustahik to potential muzakki. Hopefully all of you can participate in the movement of kindness with Dompet Dhuafa,” said Chiki Fawzi in his sharing session.
“With this socialization, we hope that the employees of the Makassar Religious High Court can better understand how ZISWAF funds are channeled. Hopefully, they can also participate in supporting the empowerment programs that we run,” added Pandu Heru Satrio.
Through this activity, Dompet Dhuafa hopes to increase public awareness and participation in empowering ZISWAF funds. Of course, especially to employees of the Makassar Religious High Court. So that those who have qualified as muzakki can become part of the kindness movement at Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi. Because the more people who are members of the movement of kindness, the wider the distribution of benefits from existing programs.
