ATHENA, GERMANY — Dompet Dhuafa once again collaborated with its partners in Greece, namely the Indonesian Muslim Community who are members of the Indonesian Family Harmony Association in Greece (IKKIY) in running an international da’wah programme, Dai Ambassador. Dompet Dhuafa’s regular programme, which is also supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Greece, was stopped in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Alhamdulillah, it is now running again, so that it can again send preachers to Greece.
A Dai Ambassador sent to Greece in 2024 is Ustaz Achmad Arif. On the sidelines of his da’wah safari in the holy month of Ramadan 1445 H, Ustaz Achmad Arif had the opportunity to guide one of the Masindo in Athens, Greece to ‘log-in’ or say shahada to embrace Islam. He is Nanang Hermanto, an Indonesian citizen born in Banyuwangi in 1981, who converted to Islam.
There is an interesting story in Nanang Hermanto’s life journey, especially regarding his religion. Long story short, he was born and raised by a Muslim family, but fate said otherwise. He married a woman who was Hindu at the time and more or less influenced him to convert to Hinduism.
After 30 years, on Thursday (21/3/2024), Nanang finally returned to believe in Allah Swt. That day became a historic day, because at that time he was guided and expressed his strong desire to return to Islam with the guidance of Dompet Dhuafa’s Dai Ambassador. Nanang’s conversion process that day was also facilitated by Rohis Islam Greece, as well as Masindo who are members of IKKIY.
After the Maghrib prayer, Nanang said the two sentences of the creed at the Al Ikhlas Mosque, a mosque built with the cooperation of Masindo and IKKIY.
The mosque, which is located in the centre of the Greek capital, became a starting and historic place for Nanang because it witnessed his return to Islam.
Dompet Dhuafa’s Dai Ambassador directly guided Nanang to say the creed.
This event took place very wisely, witnessed and attended by several Masindo in Greece. Also present were the Chairman of Rohis, Mr Tohari and all other Rohis Islam administrators. Hopefully Mas Nanang Hermanto will be blessed with mysticism by Allah to continue to adhere to Islam in a kaffah manner and be able to carry out Islamic law in the future.
