JAPAN — On a suitable occasion on Friday (31/3/2023), H. Aulia Rijal, Lc, MA, one of the Dai Ambassadors of Dompet Dhuafa 2023 assigned to Japan, delivered his sermon in front of the Japanese Muslim community. This sermon was delivered during Friday prayer time at the Indonesian Muslim House Mosque in Chiba, Japan.

Ustaz Aulia highlighted the minimal number of Muslims in Japan. Islam is a minority religion in Japan. According to data, from 2010 to 2020, the Muslim population living in Japan is only around 200,000 or about 1.6 per cent of the Japanese population.

Most Muslims in Japan are immigrants from Muslim-majority countries, including students and workers from Indonesia. As for the native people of Japan, only a few embraced Islam.

“The slow development of Islam in the Land of Sakura may be influenced by various factors. Among them are the absence of freedom of time and opportunity for Islamic da’wah in Japanese educational institutions, kenshusei Japan / other countries whose time and access to Islamic study resources are minimal even along with prayer times, as well as the number of non-halal foods due to the lack of halal restaurants owned by Muslims, and so on, “said Ustaz Aulia in a written statement to Dompet Dhuafa.

Seeing this, Dompet Dhuafa Japan is also here to open a broader horizon and provide solutions and cooperation with the Indonesian Islamic Community Family (KMII) Japan for better Islamic development.
