SOUTH TANGERANG – One of the educational endowment assets of Dompet Dhuafa, the Islamic School Al Syukro Universal, handed over a productive endowment surplus amounting to Rp1,371,125,300 to Dompet Dhuafa on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. The transfer of the endowment surplus took place at Wisma Al Syukro Universal in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, and was done by Cici Kurniasih, the Director of the Islamic School Al Syukro, to Rahmad Riyadi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dompet Dhuafa.
Also present at this handover event were Ahmad Abdul Wasiudin, the GM of Education at Al Syukro; Rina Fatimah, the GM of Education at Dompet Dhuafa; and Ali Bastoni, the GM of Endowment Development at Dompet Dhuafa.
During the occasion, Cici expressed that the trust of the community in Al Syukro continues to grow, and as a result, teachers and staff are continuously improving as the endowment-based school expands.
“The trust that the community places in Al Syukro and Dompet Dhuafa is so high, so we consider this a very significant responsibility,” he stated.
Currently, there are a total of 1,049 students enrolled in the Islamic School Al Syukro Universal. This number has increased from previous years. In the 2020/2021 academic year, there were 845 students, then in the 2021/2022 academic year, there were 893 students, and in the 2022/2023 academic year, there are 959 students. The school also has a staff of 145 people, including both teachers and employees.
Furthermore, 13 students receive scholarships, both at the junior high school and senior high school levels. The total value of the scholarships provided is Rp453 million.
Rahmad Riyadi expressed his hope to the management of the Islamic School Al Syukro that this productive endowment model could serve as an example for the education management system in Indonesia. He noted that many schools in Indonesia are becoming increasingly expensive, but their quality does not match the cost. Al Syukro School can be managed with good educational discipline.
The relationship between Dompet Dhuafa and PIASYU (Perguruan Islam Al Syukro Universal) is very close. Dompet Dhuafa manages zakat, including the empowerment of education. This means that it’s not just about distributing zakat funds for children’s education but also ensuring that two crucial aspects of education in Indonesia, namely educational resources and infrastructure, are well provided for. Combining this pattern with a productive endowment management system will result in an excellent system.
“Therefore, for every issue in the process of quality education, Dompet Dhuafa must be able to find solutions and overcome them. We must also be more meticulous in examining each source of funding so that it becomes effective and efficient,” Rahmad said.
He also emphasized that the school should set a good example and provide quality education at an affordable cost for all segments of society. (Dompet Dhuafa/Muthohar)
