INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA — Behind the glittering South Korean pop music industry known as K-Pop, there was a spiritual moment that thrilled the hearts of Muslims in the Land of Ginseng. It was Busyro’s selawat, the melodious chanting of this selawat echoed in Al Anwar Mosque, Incheon when the Fajr study began.

Al Anwar Mosque is located in the metropolitan city of Incheon. Its existence is an oasis for Muslims, amidst the busy city known for its glittering K-Pop entertainment industry. Every day, tens or even hundreds of Muslims gather in this mosque to worship. One of them is the Fajr prayer.

However, it is not only the Fajr prayer that is an important moment at Al Anwar Mosque. Every week after the Fajr prayer, the congregation holds a Fajr study filled with Qur’anic recitations, tausiah, and not to forget, selawat. This atmosphere was seen on Sunday (17/3/2024).

In the quiet atmosphere before dawn, Busyro’s selawat sounded melodious on the ceiling of Al Anwar Mosque. The congregation looked solemn, as if they were immersed in the spiritual silence offered by the selawat.

Despite being in the middle of a city known for its frenetic entertainment industry, moments like this bring peace and togetherness to the Muslims in Incheon. Not only a moment of worship, the Fajr study at Al Anwar Mosque is also a place to strengthen the relationship between the congregation.
