SERANG, BANTEN — Dompet Dhuafa is calling on prospective graduates of Islamic Business Economics to actively engage in empowering community economies within their regions via the Line Forum. This initiative was shared by Udhi Tri Kurniawan, the General Manager of Economic Empowerment at Dompet Dhuafa, during the XVII Yudisium scientific oration at the Faculty of Islamic Business Economics (FEBI) at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, Banten, on Tuesday (5/12/2023).
Udhi extended an invitation to students with community economic empowerment ideas to collaborate with Dompet Dhuafa on the “Line Forum” Program. This initiative aims to gather innovative ideas from young Indonesians involved in economic activities and empowerment, contributing to poverty eradication in Indonesia.
“We (Dompet Dhuafa) invite students, especially those from the Faculty of Islamic Business Economics at UIN Banten with ideas to drive economic change within communities, to partner with Dompet Dhuafa,” Udhi stated.
Dompet Dhuafa opens this program annually to offer students a chance to impact community economic development. Selected programs will receive funding from Dompet Dhuafa, ranging from 2 to 5 billion rupiahs.
“Dompet Dhuafa sets aside a budget of 2 to 5 billion rupiahs every year for community economic empowerment programs. We will open the Line Forum program to the public at the start of 2024, giving students ample time to return to their villages and identify potential empowerment opportunities,” Udhi added.
Udhi also highlighted the role of FEBI alumni as key contributors to community economic empowerment and stressed the importance of educating communities on leveraging local resources.

“Graduates of FEB Islam are expected to drive economic change in their communities. They should return to their communities ready to enlighten and assist them in utilizing available local resources,” he emphasized.
Concluding his speech, Udhi reminded the students of the essential skills needed to navigate the job market.
“The essence for fresh graduates entering the job market boils down to two main skills: not where you studied, but what you can do. The first is communication skills, and the second is expertise in your chosen field,” he concluded.

Following the scientific oration, Dompet Dhuafa launched the Container Canteen Program, an economic empowerment initiative for financially disadvantaged students. Through this program, participants are taught entrepreneurship, enabling them to earn a monthly income and smoothly cover their tuition or semester fees.
