Together, SBI Peduli and Dompet Dhuafa Collaborate to Relieve Suffering

BOGOR, WEST JAVA — Conflicts and natural disasters have created deep wounds for millions of people around the world. In the midst of global concerns, the collaboration between PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI) Narogong Factory-a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero)-and Dompet Dhuafa is an oasis of hope. Through the “SBI Narogong Disaster Response” program, these two institutions work together to distribute humanitarian aid to victims of conflict in Palestine and floods in Gorontalo.

The distribution of aid carried out on Tuesday (27/08/2024) in the PT SBI area, Bogor Regency, was not just an ordinary social action. This is a tangible manifestation of the company’s concern for fellow human beings and commitment to contribute in building a better world. The aid in the form of 80 meal packages for victims in Palestine and 35 baby kit packages for disaster survivors in Gorontalo, is expected to ease the burden on the survivors and give them hope to rise again.

Nur Lailiyah, General Affairs & Community Relations Manager of SBI Narogong Factory, revealed, “In the Palestinian and Gorontalo tragedies, they are all disasters in different forms, which indeed require every party to join hands and contribute. We believe that every individual has a social responsibility. Through this collaboration, we want to show that companies can be part of the solution in overcoming various humanitarian problems”.

For the Gorontalo flood disaster, PT SBI Narogong Factory provided support through donations that focused on the special needs of children affected by the disaster, such as providing baby kits. “Children as victims need more attention,” Nur Lailiyah added.

In line with this, Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin, General Manager of ZIS Collection of Dompet Dhuafa said, “The partnership with PT SBI means a lot to us. This assistance will be very useful for our brothers and sisters who are experiencing difficulties. We hope this collaboration can inspire other parties to participate in humanitarian action.”

The collaboration between PT SBI and Dompet Dhuafa is clear evidence that caring and mutual cooperation can create positive change. Through this real action, we are invited to reflect and contribute according to our respective abilities. Since October 7, 2023, more than 40,000 Gazans have been victims of the ongoing conflict in Palestine. Despite facing various access challenges, Dompet Dhuafa continues to strive to distribute aid to the region.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, floods that occurred in Gorontalo Province, from July 10-16, 2024 hit 6 districts and cities in Gorontalo Province. Flooding in Gorontalo Regency affected 19,513 people. Floods caused by high rain intensity and environmental damage drowned houses, destroyed agricultural land and claimed lives.
