JAKARTA — “We believe in Dompet Dhuafa that what we entrust is given to the rightful. Then, we feel facilitated by this process. So we no longer need to search, but can come to the house at the most appropriate time. Where later of course this process goes well and Inshallah provides enormous benefits,” added Tri Nugroho, a Dompet Dhuafa donor who often routinely uses the zakat pick-up service.
Yes, Ramadan is a time that many Muslims look forward to doing various forms of goodness, including giving zakat. In addition to zakat fitrah, which is the obligation of every Muslim before Ramadan ends, there is also zakat mal where a person pays a portion of his wealth during this holy month.
At the end of Ramadan 1445 H, the warm smile greeted the Dompet Dhuafa Team again, filling the morning atmosphere. Tri Pratiwi Suci, one of the zakat donors, welcomed the Dompet Dhuafa Team who visited her residence in Cibubur as well as to pick up zakat. Together with her husband, Tri Nugroho Marjadi completed the warmth of the atmosphere. They are preparing to fulfil their obligations, namely giving mal zakat.
Tri Pratiwi spent Rp70 million to fulfil her obligations. Muhammad Yatim from Dompet Dhuafa’s Ziswaf Pick-up Team guided Tri Pratiwi through the zakat procession and prayer together. The zakat payment process is also equipped with important documents and EDC (Electronic Data Capture) machines to facilitate the payment process. The implementation of zakat mal is to set aside some of the assets owned to be given to people who are entitled to receive it, either through the zakat committee or distributed individually (independently).
Tri Pratiwi revealed that she has been using this zakat pick-up facility for the last five years.
“Alhamdulillah, today, Friday is full of blessings, I have used the Dompet Dhuafa zakat pick-up facility for more than 5 years, several times. Alhamdulillah, it is smooth and easy, then what I see is that the benefits are extraordinary, so it is really in accordance with zakat mal, not only for consumption purposes, but can make the development of MSMEs or programmes developed by Dompet Dhuafa. It is indeed very useful. So I, my husband, then my mother take advantage of this zakat pick-up, hopefully it will be useful for everyone,” said Tri Pratiwi.

Not only Tri Pratiwi, her husband, Tri Nugroho also distributed mal zakat amounting to Rp18,500,000. While the mother, channelled mal zakat to Dompet Dhuafa amounting to IDR 2,500,000. As an expression of gratitude, Dompet Dhuafa also gave Hari Raya gifts to the donor’s family.
In addition, Tri Pratiwi also revealed that her belief in the benefits of zakat that can advance the economy of Muslims is the main factor in making the decision to give zakat. She also added that the utilisation of zakat funds by Dompet Dhuafa was in line with their expectations. According to her, the hard-earned trust has been found in Dompet Dhuafa’s services since 2017, which have proven to be in accordance with her expectations and desires.
“So, why did I choose Dompet Dhuafa to channel my zakat mal? We hope to be able to advance the Muslim economy, and I see that the utilisation at Dompet Dhuafa is like that. So, we just trust Dompet Dhuafa. Because we have seen too, have participated in events that are really utilised according to what we want. So trust is difficult, so I really trust Dompet Dhuafa, hopefully this mandate will continue to be maintained by Dompet Dhuafa,” she said again.

In Dompet Dhuafa’s conversation with Tri Pratiwi, she added her experience during her tithing at Dompet Dhuafa. She mentioned that from the newsletter they received, many interesting stories were told.
In addition, there was also their experience when participating in the Care Visit activity, where they had the opportunity to meet Mang Ade, the Facilitator of the Desa Tani Programme in Bandung, which is Dompet Dhuafa’s economic empowerment programme in the field of horticultural agriculture with a total of 50 beneficiaries.
“We had a discussion that we would choose Dompet Dhuafa, that with all our trust, with all the presentations given, we also saw the results that we heard a lot about Dompet Dhuafa and there seemed to be no problems. In accordance with what we expect and other donors,” added Tri Nugroho.
