YOGYAKARTA — On Wednesday to Friday (26-28/7/2023), Dompet Dhuafa organized a Local Leader in Empowerment (LINE) Forum bootcamp at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Yogyakarta. This event is an initiative program to encourage and increase the capacity of economic empowerment program activists and social enterprises throughout Indonesia as well as opening up opportunities for them to collaborate with wider networks. LINE Forum is also supported by the Department of Social and Welfare Development (PSdK), Faculty of Socio-Political Sciences, UGM.
Head of PSdK Faculty of Socio-Political Sciences, Krisdiyatmoko said that his party supports the LINE Forum because this activity will have a positive impact on the community.
“Collaboration between empowerment practitioners and academics can strengthen empowerment actions on site, so that it can strengthen the positive impact on the community,” said Krisdiyatmoko, Head of PSdK Faculty of Socio-Political Sciences UGM.

In line with Krisdiyatmoko, Dean of Faculty of Socio-Political Sciences UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi also supports this program. For him, there are three main keywords that come from the LINE Forum Program, namely philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and collaboration.
“We gave three keywords from the LINE Forum Program. First is philanthropy, the spirit of sharing for others. Second, talking about entrepreneurship, community business growth. Then, the third is collaboration. The Faculty of Socio-Political Sciences UGM welcomes the invitation to collaborate with Dompet Dhuafa to bring strong benefits to the community,” said Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, Dean of Faculty of Socio-Political Sciences UGM.
LINE Forum participants consist of 30 community empowerment activists or local leaders from all over Indonesia. They act as local initiators who live in the community who have knowledge and concern regarding poverty problems faced by the community. Local leaders also have ideas to solve these problems by optimizing various potentials and resources owned by the community.

In the implementation, local leaders are one of the factors that support the success of poverty alleviation programs. They play a key role in shifting the written concept of the program into mentoring actions that are expected to create positive change effectively in the community.
LINE Forum itself was initiated to strengthen poverty alleviation efforts initiated by local leaders, so that it can effectively provide a strong and sustainable impact.
“LINE Forum is one of Dompet Dhuafa’s strategies in developing empowerment programs, collaborating with local leaders, being oriented towards a strong and sustainable impact,” said Bambang Suherman, Program Director of Dompet Dhuafa.
