TIMOR LESTE — On Saturday (1/7/2023) which coincided with the 3rd day of Tasyrik, Dompet Dhuafa visited Afabubu Village in Lospalos, Timor Leste. This location is the second location for distributing the Dompet Dhuafa Program Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) in Timor Leste.
Afabubu Village was once one of the villages in Timor Leste which Muslim residents predominantly inhabited. However, now those who are Muslims are in the minority. Even so, the spirit of da’wah never extinguished and tawhid also continues to be upheld.
“We first teach tawhid to the next generation, we have not taught fiqh and others so that they first understand their God,” said Ustaz Firman as the administrator of the An-Nur Dili Mosque.
Based on data verified by the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) Dompet Dhuafa, as many as 50 households or 145 people in Afabubu Village are suitable and entitled to receive sacrificial meat.
The slaughter of sacrificial animals is carried out in the musala built by the Afabubu community. In the midst of the condition of the building that is still only in the form of a foundation, Afabubu Tribe Muslims are still enthusiastic about carrying out religious activities. In fact, the temporary building looked like a warehouse.
“The construction of this musala really needs charity assistance from Muslims,” said Ustaz Anwar as head of the An Nur Dili Foundation, Timor Leste.
A heartwarming uncle was also present during the process of slaughtering sacrificial animals. Although only Muslims celebrate the Feast of Sacrifice, non-Muslims also work together to help Muslims slaughter sacrificial animals. Afabubu Muslims quite rarely feel this kind of togetherness and happiness.
The meat distributed is cooked traditionally, typical of the Afabubu Tribe. The warmth of sharing was deeply felt between them. The residents felt together the pleasure of sacrificial meat.
“Thank you very much for Dompet Dhuafa, far from Jakarta for sharing it with us. Hopefully if there is time and opportunity to come back here, we will always be here,” said Hamzah, one of the beneficiaries of THK Dompet Dhuafa in Afabubu Village, Timor Leste.
Chiki Fawzi, Dompet Dhuafa Super Volunteer, also a singer, took part in the Dompet Dhuafa Sacrificial Animal Stocking Program (THK) in Afabubu Village, Timor Leste. He said he was happy to have the opportunity to witness the distribution of sacrificial animals to brothers and sisters in need. Through this experience, Chiki also came to understand true Islam, which is a religion that provides compassion for the universe.
“Here, I see sacrifice as a da’wah vehicle that shows Islam rahmatan lil alamin, because those who receive the benefits are not only minority Muslims here. High tolerance, non-Muslim friends also help slaughtering sacrificial animals and sharing them,” said Chiki Fawzi. (Dompet Dhuafa/Nusratul)
